About WNMU-Deming

WNMU – John Arthur and Janette Smith Educational Center in Deming exemplifies the University’s mission by providing access to education for students in a rural, multilingual and multicultural region of the state. Classes can be taken face-to-face at the Deming learning center or students can utilize the center’s computer lab to take online courses. WNMU-Deming staff can help connect students to administrators, faculty, academic advisors, and tutors to help students succeed and achieve their education goals.

Educational Services

The WNMU-Deming building is open for classes and computer lab access M-Th 8 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. and Fri 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

WNMU requires entering freshmen to take a placement test. The test determines if students need developmental courses to improve their skills prior to being placed in college level courses. Degrees in Business

WNMU’s School of Business offers six different degrees, including two that are available online. The MBA and the Bachelor of Applied Science in General Business are fully online programs. Students can choose the program and focus area that most interests them and meets their personal goals.
Degrees in Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice programs include a 5-month certificate program as well as associate and bachelor degrees. Students seeking a Bachelor of Applied Science in Criminal Justice can pursue either a Corrections or Policing concentration depending on their career goals.
Degrees in Education (teaching) fields

WNMU offers a variety of bachelor’s and master’s degrees for future and seasoned educators including elementary, secondary, reading, special education, early childhood education, bilingual education and educational leadership. The Alternative Licensure program is for students with a Bachelor of Arts or Science in a field other than Education who wish to become teachers.
Degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies

WNMU offers interdisciplinary degrees at the associate, bachelor and master levels. A program can be designed to meet a student’s personal and professional goals.
Degree in Nursing

Students can pursue the Pre-Licensure Nursing program at WNMU-Deming learning center. Students who successfully complete this program are eligible to take the licensure exam of Registered Nurses (R.N.).
Degrees in Social Work

WNMU offers both a Bachelor and Master of Social Work for students who study from a distance.
Degrees offered fully online

Take classes anytime from anywhere. WNMU offers a variety of online degree programs.

WNMU-Deming Partnerships

WNMU Deming collaborates with Deming Public Schools to enroll eligible high school students in dual-credit courses. Contact Deming High School at 575-546-2678 to register.
