About WNMU-Deming

WNMU-Deming exemplifies the University’s mission by providing access to education for students in a rural, multilingual and multicultural region of the state. Classes can be taken face-to-face at the Deming learning center or students can utilize the center’s computer lab to take online courses. University administrators, faculty, academic advisors and tutors are available at WNMU-Deming to help students succeed and achieve their education goals.

Educational Services

The WNMU-Deming building is open for classes and computer lab access M-Th 8 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. and Fri 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

WNMU requires entering freshmen to take a placement test. The test determines if students need developmental courses to improve their skills prior to being placed in college level courses. The test, called Accuplacer, can be taken at the WNMU-Deming learning center. Call the center for an appointment: 575- 546-6556.

WNMU-Deming provides a tutor for math and English, Mon-Thu from 5:30-9:00 p.m. Electronic tutoring for a variety of subjects is available to all WNMU students from Smarthinking 24-7.

GED classes are offered Mon-Wed 9-11:00 a.m. or 5:30-7:30 p.m. New classes begin twice a semester. Students must attend an orientation session prior to starting classes. GED tests are offered the last Wednesday and Thursday of the month.

ESL classes are offered Mon-Wed 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. or 5:30-7:30 p.m. Students must attend an orientation session prior to starting classes.

WNMU-Deming Partnerships

WNMU Deming collaborates with Deming Public Schools to enroll eligible high school students in dual-credit courses. Contact Amber Abbott at Deming High School at 575-546-2678, Ext. 3133 to register. Contact Elizabeth Davila or Ken Leupold at WNMU Deming at 575-546-6556 for more information.

The new Deming Early College High School will also be based at WNMU Deming starting in August 2018. For more information, call Principal Bryan Simpson at 575-543-1049.
